The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the ICT Academy of Kerala to collaborate in research, education and advanced manufacturing.
The agreement was signed at the maiden International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) India 2025 here on Friday.
The Thiruvananthapuram-based academy is an organisation established through a public-private partnership (PPP) model to promote information and communication technology skills among the youth in Kerala. It is supported by both the central and state governments.
Addressing the gathering, Srinivas Kondapalli, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of Andhra Pradesh, said that the state was fast emerging as an MSME hub.
Pawan Kumar Chandana, Co-Founder of Skyroot Aerospace, said that Indian start-ups were driving growth in a variety of sectors – from defence to drones, biotech to quantum and space to semiconductors. “This will transform industries and societies,” he said.
“We will support research and development, expand access to global engineering tools and bridge academia and industry through platforms including IMECE India,” ASME President Lester K Su said in a statement on Saturday.
